So it begins.
50. Big number, when thinking of years. Small number when thinking of bacteria. Last spring, I hit the mid-century mark. In our family, that means I get to pick a trip and take it. So many places I still wanted to visit. Mars, Luna and Macchu Picchu all had atmospheres that put one at risk of hypoxemia, so I lowered my sights. Been to England, and Ireland just didn't catch my fancy. Bicycling seemed a good idea- insures exercise and allows one to eat without guilt. But where?
Why not go to the ancestral homeland? Mitteleuropa. Austria, Bavaria, Czech, Slovakia. Reasonably flat, ancient treasures, good music, excellent food. More importantly: many bicycle paths. Along river valleys. Few mountains.
So we are off: Starting in Prague and working south. This blog is largely for friends and family- I will try to update it with pictures and discriptions of what we find along the way. But if you found us while surfing; welcome. I will try to make it an entertaining trip.
Later.
